Too often people think that they need to radically change their life in a single day to achieve the results that they desire.  And while this is possible, it is difficult for most people to accomplish and it may not be sustainable.  Instead, look for opportunities to simply be better than you were yesterday; and the next day do the same.  For example, you may have a goal of reading more.  Reading is a wonderful way to relax, gain more knowledge and insight, and enhance your skills.  Your motivation is likely not the issue, but you simply haven't built the habit of spending time reading yet, so going from nothing to committing even 30 minutes a day may happen on day 1, but then by day 2 all bets are off.  The zero to 30 minute step is just too daunting for some people.  Instead, read for one minute today, or simply read one paragraph.  And tomorrow read for two minutes or two paragraphs.  And so on, and so on, until you have built up your habit of reading.  Often once you get started, the momentum will carry you through further and further, and you can compete with yourself on your previous days best.  This approach can be applied to nearly anything we do whether a new fitness regime, studying or learning a new skill.  Breaking your larger goals down into smaller, easier to digest chunks can be the leverage you need to be successful.
