The leadership that we demonstrate is directly proportionate to the amount of time and effort we invest in our preparation.  The work of a leader is not complete once the promotion to a leadership position occurs.  No.  In fact, the study and preparation is just beginning.  If you want to be the leader your people deserve and you want to be the leader you wish you had, then it only happens as a result of the effort and investment you make in becoming better.  Leadership is much too important to be left to fate or chance, but rather it must be a result of a dedicated and concerted effort to develop the skills and capability to be better.

The most dangerous leadership myth is that leaders are born-that there is a genetic factor to leadership. That's nonsense; in fact, the opposite is true. Leaders are made rather than born. Warren Bennis
