Without a critical examination of what we know and believe to be right, how do we really know that it is so? Our beliefs are learned through our early childhood experiences. They are a result of the environment that we find ourselves in and exposed to. Without a critical examination of our beliefs when we reach a level of objective consciousness we cannot deconstruct the origin story of our beliefs and to know if they are actually valid, true, or correct. This objective examination is critical to the maturity of the individual and the understanding of our personal belief system. Without it, we are destined to hold these childhood beliefs without any real understanding of where they came from and if they are, in fact, correct; we risk becoming automatons. Without learning we are destined to repeat the mistakes of the past and without critical review of our beliefs we do so as well.
Doubt everything. Find your own light. Buddha Siddhartha Guatama Shakyamuni
Beliefs are choices. First you choose your beliefs. Then your beliefs affect your choices. Roy T. Bennett
People almost invariably arrive at their beliefs not on the basis of proof but on the basis of what they find attractive. Blaise Pascal
