Decision fatigue has become a real thing in this technologically advanced society of ours that is filled with optionality.  Our ability to make decisions amongst the thousands of choices we are exposed to everyday is challenging.  You see, our decision making ability is like a gas tank, it only has so much fuel in it every day and once we run out, we run out.  We cannot make good decisions after we have run out of the ability to carefully consider these last decisions of the day.  We must ensure, then, that the most important decisions that we need to make, the most critical of the bunch, are made early in the day while we have decision making "gas" in the tank.  Alternatively, we can ration our decision making fuel throughout the day to ensure that we have enough "gas" for critical decisions that have to be made later in the day.  This is, in part, why some people own multiple copies of the same outfit and wear them everyday and why some people have the same thing for breakfast and lunch - to reduce decision fatigue later in the day.  Our evolutionary biology has not kept up with our technological advancements so we must find ways to ensure that our biology does not handicap us in the world that we live.
