Often we can forget that leadership isn't about what our team does to help us as leaders, but what we as leaders can do to help our teammates.  We sometimes get so wrapped up in the upwards reporting, addressing the next crisis, or working through the newest problem that we forget to simply ask our team members "how can I help you?"  These four words are powerful as they reset our  thinking and our relationship with our team.  They remind us that we must be looking to help our charges and make their work simpler and easier so they can be more effective.  If we can alleviate their frustrations through the influence we can exert or a decision we can make, we need to do that.  Sometimes we lose our perspective about what is important and these four words remind us about our obligation and commitment to our team, to provide our assistance and to make them the greatest that they can be.

The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well.  Ralph Waldo Emerson

Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not.  Dr. Seuss

He who serves the most, reaps the most.  Jim Rohn
