Regardless of your profession or your focus a commitment to life-long learning is required to continually hone and develop your skills and mastery. K. Anders Ericsson is famous for highlighting that it takes 10 000 hours of deliberate practice to develop expertise in a desired area, and Carol Dweck reminds us that a growth mindset is needed to continue to grow. No one can merely sit on the sidelines and dream about getting better. Rather it are those that get down to the business of practice and enhancing their craft that demonstrate what mastery truly is.

Intellectual growth should commence at birth and cease only at death. Albert Einstein
