My character is under constant review, development and nurture.  The characteristics that I want to grow and take seed are planted, tended and cared for so they take root, grow and flourish.  Without constant and regular attention, my character can be taken over by whatever seeds the winds and animals bring in.  And once established these invasive species are hard to root out and remove.  Instead, start with a plan of what it is you want your character to be and what it is you aspire to, then develop those characteristics over time and you will reap the benefit of your focus and attention.  Your garden must be tended if you wish to reap the rewards.

You cannot dream yourself into a character; you must hammer and forge yourself one.  Henry David Thoreau

A good name will shine forever.  Proverb

Talents are best nurtured in solitude. Character is best formed in the stormy billows of the world.  Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe

Character is perfectly educated will.  Novalis
