Acceptance is not a one and done type of exercise.  It is a daily practice of deep reflection and discovery that is constantly renewed, refreshed and rebuilt.  The conditioning of our thinking takes a long time to do and thus a constant practice is necessary to achieve the results desired.  And through the practice of capturing our thoughts and reflections on paper we can build upon each day's practice to obtain an even better result faster.  Spending time with our thoughts is not wasted nor insignificant, it is the source of personal growth and development.  The key is to advance and improve our thinking not simply rehash and relive it every day.
