Whatever we don't accept in our lives continues to have a hold on us and continues to wound us.  Eventually, our inability to accept robs us of our future and we continue to to relive the wounds and hurts of our past every day.  To truly remove the control that our past injury holds upon us requires us to accept that it occurred and it is what it is.  Once we place the event in the proper context we can understand that the emotionality that we continue to relive because of the event is unwarranted and unneeded.  Instead, we can move beyond the event and better experience the moment of now in a better light and in a better way.  Acceptance is not avoiding that the wound never occurred, nor necessarily forgetting about it, but allowing the wound to heal and releasing the hold that it continues to have on us to today.  While the trauma and wounds feel familiar and may be difficult to give up, our freedom depends upon it.

Happiness can exist only in acceptance.  George Orwell

Acceptance looks like a passive state, but in reality it brings something entirely new into this world.  That peace, a subtle energy vibration, is consciousness.  Eckhart Tolle

Life is a series of natural and spontaneous changes. Don’t resist them; that only creates sorrow. Let reality be reality. Let things flow naturally forward in whatever way they like. Lao Tzu
